My First EPUB File

Monday, February 28th, 2011

I just finished validating my first EPUB file. It’s a short four page (not counting the title page) eBook to help me when I go to Eucharistic Adoration.

I’ve got big plans for future EPUB projects. This was just a learning exercise that has a very useful purpose: it will help me remember the Divine Praises and the melody to O Salutaris.

The Journey to Thérèse has Come to an End

Monday, February 21st, 2011

For the past number of years, I’ve been following my friend Adèle’s blog Journey to Thérèse. Don’t bother clicking on it, it’s no longer there. All you get is this message:

The Orthodox View of Salvation Video

Saturday, February 19th, 2011

This is Deacon Steven Robinson’s first Vlog. The Orthodox view of salvation is the same as the Catholic view, which is quite different from the Protestant view.

180 on Consubstantial

Friday, February 18th, 2011

It’s been a slow process, but I’ve done a 180 since my post three months ago on the word consubstantial in the Creed. As I said three months ago “I like the word consubstantial itself. However, I personally don’t think it should be in the English translation of the Creed for ecumenical reasons.” Well, I’ve become even more fond of the word consubstantial, and after exchanging e-mails with Orthodox Deacon Steven Robinson, I now know that the word consubstantial poses no threat to ecumenism with the Orthodox Churches.

Planned Parenthood Corruption

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

Why is it that when the pope says it might be a step towards morality for a male prostitute with HIV to use a condom, it’s in all the headlines of the mass media world wide that the pope OKs condoms? (Notice that they didn’t make a retraction when they were corrected.) Why is it that when an organization that received $363 million from the U.S. federal government is charged with 107 criminal charges, including 23 felonies, the mass media is silent? Learn about what the government and the mass media don’t want you to hear about the abortion industry, particularly Planned Parenthood.

Gay Rights Groups Attack Catholic iPhone App

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

On February 13, 2011, guardian.co.uk ran a story with the headline: Gay rights groups attack iPhone confession app for Roman Catholics. Group claims app fosters ‘anti-gay spiritual abuse’ as it shoots up list of popular downloads. The following is from that story:

The Testimony of Gloria Polo

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

A couple days ago, I recommended that you read The Testimony of Gloria Polo. At the time, I was only two thirds of the way through it. I just finished it today, and now I insist that you read it. Don’t skip to the end, which is the best part, it must be read from beginning to end in its entirety. When you’re done, it’s very likely that you’re going to want to go to Confession as soon as possible. I’m going tomorrow.

LifeSiteNews is being sued for $500,000

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

While I was telling you that I stopped watching RealCatholicTV.com a week ago, I also mentioned that I was going to subscribe to LifeSiteNews.com and see if I like them better than LifeNews.com. Well, I’ve found LifeSiteNew much better than LifeNews and I’ve unsubscribed form LifeNew.

After a week of great service, I read the article LifeSiteNews is being sued for $500,000 – this could shut us down! To my shock, the person suing LifeSiteNews is a pro-choice Catholic priest named Fr. Raymond Gravel. Fr. Gravel is a Quebec priest, a former gay prostitute, and a former Member of Canada’s Parliament (BTW: the Church bans all partisan political activities by clergy) who said on a radio interview in 2004: “I am pro-choice and there is not a bishop on earth that will prevent me from receiving Communion, not even the Pope.” He defended the awarding of Canada’s highest civilian award, the Order of Canada, to the country’s ‘father of abortion’, Henry Morgentaler! He has also repeatedly and publicly criticized the Church’s teachings on homosexuality and abortion.

The State of NaProTechnology

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

As I briefly explained in my last post, the culture of death refers to contraception and abortion as women’s health or even reproductive health. This last term is simply ridiculous. Not only is it damaging to the health of women, it stops reproduction; thus, it’s the exact opposite of reproductive health.

Pelosi rips ‘No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act’

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

From CatholicCulture.org we get this news:

Affirming the link between contraception, homosexual activity, and legalized abortion– all of which she supports– Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the Catholic who serves as House Minority Leader, blasted the proposed No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, calling it part of “the most comprehensive and radical assault on women’s health in our lifetime.”

Supporters of the act, she said, are “in a different philosophical place on…all engagements that result in a child. So that’s why homosexuality, that’s why birth control, all these things that are not consistent with their beliefs that are all about procreation.”

When it comes to morality, Nancy Pelosi usually gets it wrong. In this piece of news, however, she only got one thing wrong and the rest is correct.
