CHAPTER 30: Critics

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

The self appointed lay judges in the Catholic Church, such as the persons involved with LifeSiteNews.com and RealCatholicTV.com, would do well to read Chapter 30 of The Cloud of Unknowing.

I’ve Unsubscribed From LifeSiteNews

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

Back in February, I switched from reading LifeNews.com to LifeSiteNews.com. I made the switch because LifeSiteNews gave more Canadian content and a little bit broader range of subject matter. However, over the months that followed, I became more and more uncomfortable with how LifeSiteNews was reporting their stories (a couple of times I wrote about this).

Ban on Displaying a Dead or Mutilated Body

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

I’m very interested to see what kind of comments are left on LifeSiteNews’ story, Law banning ‘sex-change’ surgery proposed in Lithuania. The story itself is interesting, but what really caught my attention was this additional information:

Lithuania is leading Europe in implementing legislation that protects the family, natural marriage, and the country’s children from the more detrimental effects of the sexual revolution.

In 2009, the Seimas [Lithuania’s parliament] passed the Law on the Protection of Minors Against the Detrimental Effect of Public Information, which went into effect in March of 2010.

Graphic Images of Aborted Babies

Saturday, March 19th, 2011

This is an open letter to his grace, Rev. Richard Smith, Archbishop of Edmonton.

Your Grace,

I appreciated your clarification about the Alberta bishops’ stance on the public display of graphic images of aborted babies on your March 9th post on your blog. As soon as I read it, I put it on my RSS feed External Webpages that RJ Likes. I believe these images have their place, but that place is not where the general public will indiscriminately see them.

Two solitudes

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

I stopped reading the National Post when they misreported the pope’s comments about condom use; however, someone told me I should read the article Two solitudes. This article gets somethings right and somethings wrong. Actually, the things it gets right contradict what it gets wrong.

LifeSiteNews is being sued for $500,000

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

While I was telling you that I stopped watching RealCatholicTV.com a week ago, I also mentioned that I was going to subscribe to LifeSiteNews.com and see if I like them better than LifeNews.com. Well, I’ve found LifeSiteNew much better than LifeNews and I’ve unsubscribed form LifeNew.

After a week of great service, I read the article LifeSiteNews is being sued for $500,000 – this could shut us down! To my shock, the person suing LifeSiteNews is a pro-choice Catholic priest named Fr. Raymond Gravel. Fr. Gravel is a Quebec priest, a former gay prostitute, and a former Member of Canada’s Parliament (BTW: the Church bans all partisan political activities by clergy) who said on a radio interview in 2004: “I am pro-choice and there is not a bishop on earth that will prevent me from receiving Communion, not even the Pope.” He defended the awarding of Canada’s highest civilian award, the Order of Canada, to the country’s ‘father of abortion’, Henry Morgentaler! He has also repeatedly and publicly criticized the Church’s teachings on homosexuality and abortion.

I’ve Stopped Watching RealCatholicTV.com

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

Since my last post regarding RealCatholicTV.com, something unusual happened: I lost all desire to watch them. For around the last half of a year, I never missed a single episode of Catholic News Roundup, The Vortex, Saint of the Day and This Day in History, not to mention Catholic Investigative Agency. If I missed a day or two, I’d catch up as soon as I could. Something about RealCatholicTV.com disturbed me, but I couldn’t stop watching. After I wrote about why RealCatholicTV.com disturbs me and posted it nine days ago, I no longer felt the compulsion to get my daily dose of RealCatholicTV.com. I guess once I worked out the problems of RealCatholicTV.com and warned others about these problems, there was no need to watch them any more.

Send Jailed Pro-Life Heroine Linda Gibbons a Christmas Card

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

November 30, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Supporters of Linda Gibbons are disseminating the following information to encourage support for the Canadian pro-life sidewalk counsellor:

Linda Gibbons has been a “common criminal” for many years now.  For fifteen years, since 1994, this grandmother has been in and out of Ontario prisons. Her totally accumulated jail time is seven years.  What is her crime?  Linda prayerfully and quietly witnesses in front of Ontario abortion clinics, in violation of an unjust “bubble zone” law.
